Did you know that—taken literally—this is actually impossible?
The phrase, invented in the 1800's, was originally meant as sarcasm.
But we try to pull ourselves up anyway. And we expect others to do it as well.
What if instead of saying this, we were better at asking for help and encouraging others to do the same?
